SurveyHead Tips

Survey Site Reviews 9 Comments »

Lee shared his tips for getting the most out of your experience with SurveyHead:

Surveyhead has rapidly moved into sixth place as one of my best earning survey sites. I have earned $634.05 since February 5, 2009 and here are a few tips for achieving results comparable to mine.

• Tip #1 – Complete Your Profiles
Most people have no problem filling out their profiles on Surveyhead because you receive $0.10 to $0.25 for each of the nine profiles you complete, in addition to the $5 that everyone earns after registering. They also remind you to update your profiles after each survey, so at least several times per year you should remind yourself to check and see if any of your personal information has changed and update the appropriate profile; although, I have found that I receive plenty of surveys from Surveyhead compared to any other panel that I belong to and often Surveyhead pays more.

• Tip #2 – Check For Surveys on the Website
You will occasionally get survey invitations through your email account, but I have added Surveyhead to my Browser Menu bar (Internet Explorer 9) so that I can check it every morning after I have completed the higher-paying surveys from my Inbox. There are only a few sites that this is absolutely essential and this is the best one of those few.

• Tip #3 – Check Your Rewards on the Website
Located under the ‘Rewards’ tab is a well-organized ‘Account Snapshot’ of all surveys you have taken along with the status explanations, as below:

Total Earned This is the money that you have successfully earned from taking online surveys.
Total Available Current balance.
Total Pending Before funds can be released to you, we must validate the survey data.
Redemption Threshold This is the minimum amount you need to earn before you can redeem your account balance for rewards.
Total redemption amount We have confirmed your request to receive/donate funds. It may take up to 4 weeks until your request is fulfilled.
Needed to Redeem for Rewards This is the amount you need to earn before you can redeem your account balance for rewards.
Sweepstakes Entries This is the number of times you have been entered into our iPad sweepstakes.

It is completely normal for surveys to remain in ‘Pending’ status for over a month and, sometimes for as long as three months. It is also normal to have several surveys that are marked ‘Invalid’.

• Tip #4 – Order Checks Promptly After Reaching $25
The single most important tip that I can give anyone that is a member of Surveyhead is to be patient. Not only does it routinely take from one to two months for completed surveys to be moved from ‘Pending’ to ‘Confirmed’, but once you request your payment, which becomes available after you have $25 in confirmed earnings, it takes eight weeks before your cash-out request is moved from ‘Requested’ to ‘Confirmed’ status, at which point you will receive an email stating that “Your recent PayPal cash out request has been approved from Surveyhead. You will receive your PayPal payment to the email address provided within 6-7 days. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your continued participation. If you have any questions please let us know.” I have never known Surveyhead to not pay me and it is for this reason that you must be very patient with them. When your cash out does arrive via PayPal, you will often find that you have not only requested another cash out, but that you are well on your way to a third $25 cash out!
Surveyhead is one of the very best survey panels for me and has been for the past two years. Many good things have come to me from answering their surveys honestly and accurately. Yes, they are very slow at confirming pending surveys and redeeming your cash out requests, but they are definitely one of the top earning legitimate survey sites out there. If you follow these simple tips, I think you will find they will also become one of your top earning survey panels.

MindSwarms

Uncategorized 8 Comments »

What would you think if someone told you there is a survey site that would pay you $50 for every survey that you complete with them? That they are crazy, right? That was certainly what ran through my mind when I first got an email from Msjbelle asking that I look into a new survey site called Mindswarms.

I did an intensive Google search, and guess what? So far, I haven’t found a negative comment. Mindswarms is certainly a new concept. All you need to participate is a webcam. Here is a short video about how it works from a market research standpoint: http://vimeo.com/24153822

If you have a working webcam, sign up is easy. You’ll answer a few basic questions, and then set up your webcam (my webcam was having problems so I’ll need to work on that) and do a test video. From there you’ll apply for available surveys. From the website:

1. What is MindSwarms?

MindSwarms allows you to participate in paid research studies using a webcam and high speed internet connection. So whether you are at home, in the office, traveling abroad, on your private jet, or down below in your submarine, you’ll be able to participate.

2. How much do I get paid and what do I have to do?

We pay you $50 to answer seven questions via webcam. It’s that simple. It’s also fast; most people take less than 20 minutes from logging in to signing out.

3. Who can sign up?

Anyone anywhere in the world can apply to join our database.

5. How do I sign up?

You can apply to join our database by going to the consumer home page
( http://www.mindswarms.com/consumers/new ) and signing up as a new user.

6. What’s the catch?

We get this question a lot. People worry that they’ll have to do something special to qualify, like dress up as Batman or sing and dance while twirling a baton. We want to assure you up front that, while we do appreciate your unique talents and large inventory of super hero costumes, we are most interested in what you think and how well you are able to share those thoughts with our clients.

We believe that everyone is an expert in something, whether that means expert business traveler, technology geek, or stay at home mom. Our clients–including product design firms, advertising agencies, and large corporations–want to hear your thoughts and opinions about your unique expertise. Ultimately, they will use what they learn from you to make better products, services, and advertising.

In the past, companies have used focus groups and surveys to obtain this information, but these forms of market research are often expensive and time consuming. The MindSwarms platform enables companies to gather valuable qualitative data in an affordable, hassle free way.

When a company wants to conduct market research, they pay us to set up a study for them. Since we want to encourage you to participate in our studies, we pay you for your responses. In the end, everyone wins the companies get their research data, we get business, and you get paid for answering seven questions via webcam.I’m really excited about this one. What a great way for companies to find out what we think about products and services. You’ll find lots of information on various forums talking about the
studies and those who qualify and are paid the $50. Here is a very long thread from Slick Deals: http://slickdeals.net/f/3093438-Mindswarm-HU?

It certainly seems legitimate. I’m anxious to get the kinks out of my webcam so that I can get started. From what I read, you certainly can’t expect to qualify all that often. The studies are generally very specific, and the chances for qualifying probably aren’t that high. But I’ll take my chances. We’ve all done much more trying to qualify for endless surveys which pay $1. Seems to me that checking my dashboard for these surveys is MUCH more cost effective in terms of my time.

Are you already a member of Mindswarms? Let us know about your experience. Thinking of joining? I can’t wait to find out how many of you qualify
for a study. And thanks, Msjbelle!

Ipsos Isay: Tips and Review 2012

Survey Site Reviews 8 Comments »

Many thanks to Don, who just let me know that my last post has completely disappeared into cyberspace. We were having server issues last week, so I’m thinking that’s when it went “poof”. Apologies if you have already read this one, but there are many who didn’t.

Lee posted these tips for us over on our forum, so I thought I would repost.

IPSOS-ISAY is my seventh best earning website over the last two years. I earned and received $635 since January 15, 2010, although $500 of that came from a sweepstakes win. Here are several tips for achieving results comparable to mine.

• Tip #1 – Add the Survey Email Address to Your Allowed List
Make sure to add the email address questions@i-say.com to your email white (or allow) list to make certain that you receive IPSOS surveys and customer service emails. This is true for every survey panel, especially if you were receiving email invitations and they suddenly stopped. Always check your spam filter to make sure they are being allowed.

• Tip #2 – Check the Website for Available Surveys
Although IPSOS will generally send you an email invitation every day to get you started taking their surveys, it’s a good idea to check their website under “Available Surveys”, which is found on the drop-down menu of the “My Surveys” tab on the Home page. Most of their surveys are for 45 ($0.45), 90 ($0.90) or 150 points ($1.50), but occasionally you will receive 200 ($2), 250 ($2.50) or even 600-point ($6) surveys. They will credit you with five points ($0.05) if you are disqualified. When you have taken all of the surveys this message appears: “Currently, there are no surveys available for you to take. Please check again later.”

• Tip #3 – Always Play the Poll Predictor Game
The reason this is a great idea is because I won $500 shortly after joining IPSOS, so it is possible. IPSOS would only be #19 on my list of highest paid surveys without that sweepstakes win. Another great idea is to vote in the Quick Poll Share and pay attention to the results by clicking on “See past poll results” to give you a good idea of what the correct answers might be in the Poll Predictor game. Here is how the scoring works:

Exact guess = 25 chances
Within 1 point (plus or minus) = 20 chances
Within 3 points = 15 chances
Within 5 points = 10 chances
Within 10 points = 5 chances
Within 25 points= 1 chance

There are a variety of other contests that you could win:

Enjoy our many Contests including:

NEW! The Trading Post Draw
Between September 1 and December 31, 2011, redeem 250 points for a chance to win an iPad2 in The Trading Post draw. Redeem as many times as you like – the more you redeem the greater your chance to win.

$5,000 Monthly Click Draw
Every time you click on a survey link, you will automatically be entered. It’s that easy. And remember, the more surveys you click on, the more chances you have to win!

New Member Bonus Draw
All new members are automatically entered to win a prize worth $1,000 – just for taking your first survey!

$5,000 Member Contest
Stay an active member for the Quarter and you could be the lucky winner of 5K cold hard cash!

Monthly Points Giveaway!
Earn even more! Every month we will choose 10 random panel members and reward a bonus 2,500 points!

• Tip #4 – Check Your Rewards on IPSO’s Website
Under the “My Surveys” tab drop-down menu, click on “Survey History” to find a comprehensive and well-organized list of every survey, rewards earned, date the survey closed and status for every survey taken since you joined. The status legend on the right tells you what each term means:

Complete: The survey was completed successfully.
Complete – Day 1: Part 1 of this survey was completed successfully.
Complete – Day 2: Part 2 of this survey was completed successfully.
Incomplete: You have started this survey and have not completed it.
Not a Match: Based on your profile and/or answers, this particular survey was not the right match for you.
Quota Met: We have received enough responses from panelists matching your profile.
Redirected: Based on your profile and/or answers, you were redirected to another survey.

Although there are a variety of rewards, including 13 charity donations and Amazon and American Express gift cards, I prefer the $15 PayPal cash option, which generally arrives within a few days. I have never had the problem of deciding whether or not to cash out for the $100 minimum cash check option.

IPSOS ISAY is one of the better survey panels primarily due to how well-organized the site is, the product tests and the many winnable contests, which is why I often take surveys for sweepstakes entries because I know they are completely legitimate and many good things have come to me from answering their surveys honestly and accurately. If you follow these simple tips, I think you will find they will also become one of your better earning survey panels.

QuickRewards: Updated Review December 2011

Survey Site Reviews 11 Comments »

I haven’t written a review of QuickRewards since 2008, and at that time, I was put off a bit by their offers and the various methods for earning on the website. But invariably, when Lee or I post a list of our favorite survey sites, many people post or email that QuickRewards is a favorite site for them. With so many people listing it as a favorite, maybe I should give it another look!

The QuickRewards site gives this description on their website:

QuickRewards Network is a loyalty marketing site that rewards its members for doing things they normally do online such as surfing the web, using a search engine, shopping, signing up for offers, taking surveys and much more while bringing out advertisers the quality targeted traffic they want.

Although I’ll have to admit that I’m not interested in anything but the surveys, other members seem to enjoy and and find that they can earn cash through these methods. They have added lots of new daily surveys since that last time I checked out the site though. They range from $.60 to $2 from what I could tell.

The most positive aspects of QuickRewards are the variety and speed of the payment methods.

You may cash out any time you like when you reach the required amount for a specific redemption. Paypal payments have no minimum amounts. Most other gift certificates require you to have a minimum of $5 balance to redeem for them. Please check with the terms and conditions for special Paypal Requirements for Canadian residents and US residents with non-verified Paypal accounts.
Paypal payments are usually sent within 12-48 hours. Gift certificates are usually ordered on the same day as you request them. If the gift certificate is an e-gift certificate you will receive them in your QR account email within a few hours. If the gift certificates are going to be send to your house it generally takes 2-7 days for them to arrive. Prizes from the prize shop can take anywhere from 2 days to 6 weeks to arrive depending on availability of the prize.

Amazon gift cards, Ebay and Restaurant.com are online gift cards offered. There is also a whole long list of store gift cards if you choose to do that.

Are you a member of QuickRewards? Let us know what your experience has been. Do you take advantage of the other ways to earn?

Update Concerning Opinion Outpost

Advice 16 Comments »
Although some of us have had a relatively smooth transition with Opinion Outpost, others of us (including myself) have had a much more difficult time. From reading comments on the Opinion Outpost Facebook wall, problems are rampant with logins and cashouts. Ian has done a great job posting comments on my previous post with updates about his conversations with customer service. For the record, when I called the 800 number, I was told that it would be January, 2012 before the issues would be resolved. Here is the information the Ian provided:
Well folks, not so good news. I just got off the phone with customer service ( 1-877-254-1234 ) & the lady a spoke with very candid. She said the merger with SSI has not gone smoothly (really?) & that matching the two systems has created huge problems. I asked if they might have a possible timeline as to when things would be up & running. Again, in her words, she said she didn’t “want to sugar-coat it” & that they hope to have the site running by … next year. Oy. I don’t even know what more to say.
…and now for something completely different.
The new message on the site (for some folks) reads:
We are unable to process your payment. Please check that your request does not exceed the daily limit of 3,000 points. If you reside in the United States and you’ve claimed 6,000 points or more in a calendar year, you will need to submit a Form W-9. Please contact the helpdesk for further information.
** If you looked yesterday the site mistakenly said 60,000 was the cut-off instead of 6,000, but they have corrected that as of today**
So if you have made over $600 in a calendar year with OpinionOutpost/SSI you will have to fill out a W-9 as a contract worker so that the IRS can potentially have some. So for those for whom the site is still working it is probably a combination of good fortune of having your data transferred easily & the fact that you haven’t reached the $600 threshold.
I once again spoke with a customer service person they are actually really nice there & have had a ROUGH couple of weeks, so if you call please try to remember they are not the IT programmers who had the problem with the integration. He told me he was sending me the link to the W-9 form after our conversation (it showed up immediately) & it is a link to the necessary IRS form. As a contract worker in my `real’ life, they are simple forms & unless you make very large amounts as a contract worker over throughout the year, it should be little more than a small bump in the road when doing your taxes & you will receive a 1099-MISC from OpinionOutpost/SSI early next year. Now it will mean that the company will have your Social Security number/tax ID info, so it is up to each survey member who goes over $600 to decide if that is something they are comfortable with.
The fellow who I spoke with also said that OpinionOutpost was planning soon on sending out a mass emailing to all registered members with some hopefully good news & that they may actually be getting a handle on the merger/new site glitches. Hope this might help clear up some concerns & offer some info.
How many of you are still having problems with Opinion Outpost? Are you giving them the benefit of the doubt?

Lee’s Top 25 for November 2011

Top Cash Paying Survey Sites 33 Comments »

I’m happy to share Lee’s hard work and record keeping for November. It’s been a trying few months in our survey site quest with all of the mergers and changes. How did you do last month?

I added something NEW to my Top 25 Survey list!

Top 25 Survey List
———————————————————-

I started keeping records of my online paid surveys January 31, 2008. I spend an average of three to four hours per day taking surveys. Here are the amounts that I have earned from my 23 best paid online survey sites. I have earned $8654.97 in 45 months from 23 survey sites, which is $192.31 per month. The average survey site earned $8.36 per month. My actual receipts are $8395.79, which is $186.57 per month. I have added the dates that I joined each site as well as whether they have PayPal, Invokes or product tests. About 15% of my earnings are from product tests and Invoke Interactives. Another 15% is from survey sites that I don’t earn enough per year to bother keeping track. I do not keep track of prizes or free products, but I do include contest wins. I only add in points accumulated after they have been redeemed due to the difficulty of calculating point values. I have added Monthly Averages in boldface below.

1. Opinion Outpost $1128.90 (200 points = $20 minimum pay out) (2008-02-04) (PayPal) (Invokes) ($1128.90 rec’d [received]) [10-27-11] Monthly Average = $25.07

Opinion Outpost: More Changes

Survey Ramblings 65 Comments »

I’m sure by now, most of you know about Opinion Outpost being merged with SSI (Survey Sampling International) (who also owns Survey Spot). With the announcement of the exciting new changes coming to Opinion Outpost, many of us sat back with dread as many of these “mergers” only mean trouble for us.  And with Opinion Outpost being most folk’s favorite survey site after Survey Spot’s fall from grace, the news couldn’t have come at a worse time.

I’m willing to take a skeptical wait and see attitude until all the kinks are out, but I don’t have high hopes. The good news, so far, is that Opinion Outpost has a Paypal option now with a $10 payout. Will that be enough? Only time will tell.

Here is the latest announcement on the Opinion Outpost Facebook page:

We appreciate all of the feedback we have received about the new Opinion Outpost site. We also have received a lot of questions. Hopefully you can find some of the answers here.

For those of you who haven’t been able to login, hopefully the problem is the following that Ashley wrote on the FB wall:

Me thinks the data concerns is code for- we messed up and could not move all members at once- so rather than simply mention the error, we will make it seem like the members’ fault and therefore feel no responsibility to rectify the problem in a timely manner. Only bright spot- one of your employees was honest enough to tell me my account was not flagged for data concerns, it was simply in the batch that hadn’t been moved over. Of course, no ETA on when it would be fixed. On to other sites that do not have as many issues…
How have the changes at Opinion Outpost affected you?

-After surveying our panel, the biggest request was to add the PayPal option. If you do not want to use PayPal, please remember there are still many other reward options, including Amazon.com, Citi Bank, Restaurant.com, A…lawar, and donate to the Red Cross.

-The survey reward structure is still the same. If you see surveys for 0 points those are actually profile questionnaires that will help you receive more surveys. The profile questionnaire numbers begin with an “S”, if you want to verify this is the case. You will still receive a prize draw for completing each of them.

- You can still pick and choose the surveys you want to participate in, by choosing which surveys to join when you receive the email invitations. The Take a Survey link just holds a lot more surveys available to you, because we did not want to overload your email boxes.

-If you are not able to log in, please email helpdesk@opinionoutpost and we will look into your account. Some accounts were not moved over in the initial batch because there were data concerns we need to look into. The points and surveys are still there, it just may take some time to migrate all of them over to the new site.

-The Opinion Outpost staff is continually working to address all of your questions and they will be answered in the order they are received. We are constantly working to improve your membership experience and we assure you this will never change.

For all other questions, please email helpdesk@opinionoutpost.com, or click the support tab to the left.

Thanks again for your patience!

Lee’s Top 25 Paid Survey Site List October 2011

Top Cash Paying Survey Sites 31 Comments »

Lee has posted his updated list of the best paid survey sites on our forum so I thought I would share it here as well. Thanks for sharing, Lee. Does you list look like Lee’s? Let us know what you think!

I started keeping records of my online paid surveys January 31, 2008. I spend an average of three to four hours per day taking surveys. Here are the amounts that I have earned from my 24 best paid online survey sites. I have earned $8561.44 in 44 months from 24 survey sites, which is $194.58 per month. Rewarded Opinion: Updated Online Survey Site Review 2011

Uncategorized 18 Comments »

I reviewed Rewarded Opinions back in 2008 when I first signed up with them. As little information was available at that time, I jumped right in and hoped for the best.  I haven’t had much luck with them to say the least, and frankly I had almost forgotten about them. Some months I received a couple of surveys, other times, none at all. The surveys that I did qualify for paid on average 75 points (100 points=$1), so considering the frequency, it takes a LONG time to reach payout (2000 points).  And although they claim on their website to offer focus groups paying up to 3000 points each, I never received anything close to that.

I never reached payout, so I can’t comment on that based on personal experience. I did, however, do a little searching and found many members who were not satisfied at all. There are numerous complaints of checks not arriving, and phone calls and emails not being answered. Some of our own members left these comments on my previous posts over the last several months:

From Lisa: After a couple of years I have $18.50 with them and should be able to cash out this year . As I say, I am more patient than some. I never cancel the slow earners, because sometimes sites change. Your 2 Cents was a slow earner, and then after they changed to Toluna I did quite well. But since they dropped Paypal I don’t enjoy their surveys as much, so I haven’t done them in months, but I might try again at some point. I didn’t take MyView surveys for years after they dropped Paypal, but I’m taking them again because I generally earn Amazon certificates quickly (and when I went back the points I’d earned were still there). In the same way I’ve had slow years with Testspin, but they’ve improved. If I have accrued points/rewards with a site I don’t cancel; most sites will let you sit on them for a long time, so I don’t really see the point. If deleting invitations bothers you, you can have them sent to a folder and purge them periodically.

From Dominic:  Did a online focus group for 90minutes for only 50.00$ amazon (i did one just like this for 175! for min) and was suppose to be in my email over a week ago and still no amazon gift-code. Customer service still not responded.

Harris Poll Online: Updated Review 2011

Survey Site Reviews 18 Comments »

I periodically visit other survey review/survey rating websites to see what other people are saying. One of those that I visited recently to see what members were saying was SurveyPolice. They keep an updated list of Top Ranked Survey Companies which changes depending on how people rate each survey site in a 12 month period of time. There was many surprises on that list in terms of ranking. The most glaring for me being that they had Harris Poll Online listed as #6, just below Opinion Outpost at #5.

I had unsubscribed from Harris Poll Online back in 2009. In my review at that time (see here) I wrote this:

In the period of time that I have been a member, I have earned a grand total of 450 points. It takes 800 points for a $5 gift card. Of course there are other prizes from which to choose, but I thought that most of them were fairly lame. I don’t mind points for prizes if the list of available merchandise is worth my time, but Harris Poll hasn’t impressed me with their offerings. For a few brief shining moments back in May and June, they offered Paypal as an option for the $5. Sadly, I didn’t earn the 800 points before they decided not to offer that option anymore.

So this review will have to be up to those of you who are still a member of Harris Poll Online! Are any of you still a member? I don’t remember seeing it listed on any of the list of the highest paid survey sites generated by members here or on our forum.  Have things improved in the last couple of years?
